5 Common Types of Aggressive Driving

    JonesBy JonesOctober 14, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read

Aggressive driving is a term that refers to the act of operating a motor vehicle in a way that endangers or shows disregard for other drivers. One of the leading causes of road accidents is aggressive driving. It is an act done intentionally or unintentionally. Drivers who commit aggressive driving do so for different reasons.

Every individual has the right to be safe in their daily lives and can not be subjected to aggressive people who could potentially cause them harm or death.  Therefore, you should consult a grand junction car accident lawyer if you think you have been injured in an accident caused by the aggressive driving of another individual. Aggressive driving encompasses several activities, including tailgating, failure to yield to other vehicles, yelling or using profanity, driving at unsafe speeds, or breaking traffic laws.

Let us now see into the 5 common types of aggressive driving.

    • Speeding

Speeding is one of the most common forms of aggressive driving. It refers to the act of driving dangerously. You will mostly find people racing with one another on expressways and main roads. Some drivers don’t mind being blocked by other vehicles as long as they can overtake them.

    • Tailgating

Tailgating refers to following a vehicle too closely as it passes through an intersection. This practice is dangerous because it renders the vehicle unable to stop in case of an emergency. Unsafe braking also causes a lot of accidents.

    • Running red lights

Running red lights is against the law but some drivers are never guided by this fact. They pass through red lights because they want to get somewhere faster. Some of them do not want to wait for other vehicles or wait for the traffic light to change.

    • Failing to use turn signals

Failing to use turn signals is a serious form of aggressive driving. It is one of the leading causes of road accidents. Drivers who fail to use turn signals usually do so because they want to show off their driving skills or are just in a hurry.

    • Not yielding

Not yielding refers to the act of a vehicle not giving way to other vehicles. It is a common form of aggressive driving. Drivers often want to show off to others that they are good drivers. This causes them to ignore traffic rules.
